A native from Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in performing arts as she grew in her teens. She was a contestant in singing contests, performed in her high school's theatre program and was a singer in choirs. She then moved in Los Angeles and studied theatre at the University of Southern California. For a year and an half, she was Belle the princess in Beauty and the Beast. She left college in order to search for an agent. Then she began doing auditions and appearing on TV as well as film. Butler made an appearance as the guest on the TV series CSI: Miami, CSI: NY. Her role was also featured in the films A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser (2008) and Flu Bird Horror (2008 Syfy TV Horror Film). The year 2008 was the last time she had been featured in the web series Luke 11:17. The show was written and produced by Don Stark. Butler was the main character on I Spit on Your Grave (2010) the film that is a remake 1978 classic film with the exact same title. The film was initially a turn-off for her because of the violence, nakedness and feminist subtexts. However, the compelling plot and the feminist aspect made her choose to take on the part. Steven R. Butler began shooting the thriller psychological The Stranger Within alongside Estella Warren and William Baldwin in Mallorca Spain beginning in November of 2011. The film was shot in addition to New York City and Copenhagen The film was set for filming on location in Copenhagen Denmark. She also became part of the crew for Treachery which was a film starring Michael Biehn. The independent feature film was filmed in Los Angeles in early 2012.
