Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28th, 1952) is a famous American stage actress and film actress. She was awarded the Academy Award nod for the role she played as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Apart from this character McDonnell is also well-known as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica), the spouse of the president on Independence Day as well as her leading role in the role of Donnie Darko's mother.
