Maria Menounos
Maria helped her mother with stages four of brain cancer. The doctor told her that she was in a serious health situation. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. "I'd experienced lightheadedness while on set, and was suffering from headaches," Menounos tells PEOPLE in the magazine's new exclusive issue. "My speech became disorganized. I also had trouble reading the screen." An MRI revealed Menounos to be suffering from a massive meningioma brain tumour that has grown to the size as a golf ball. It was pressing on the facial nerves. Menounos reached an agreement for surgery with the Dr. Keith L. Black her mother's neurosurgeon , and scheduled surgery for the 8th of June. Menounos is now 39 years old. Menounos claims that Dr. Black said, "I am 98 percent certain it is benign, but we will not know until we go into the," The lengthy procedure took seven hours and Dr. Black was capable of getting rid of 99.9% of the benign cancer. According to Dr. Black, there's a 6-7 percent chance of the tumor recurring. It's a good thing I can consider these odds any day of the week. After returning home to her family after having spent six days in a hospital Menounos is recovering and spending time with her mother Litsa, whose latest MRI indicates that her cancer is well-controlled.
